Your business’ branding can be thought of as its personality, and anything without a personality is boring and easily forgotten. So what do you need in order to make your business a memorable brand? We’ve created a checklist below of what to include when creating your brand.
Before you read on, you need to think about what you want to achieve and what your business exists to do. The more specific your business goals are, the more niche your brand will be and in turn, makes it easier to target your audience and base your design around.
When creating your brand, it’s important to take into consideration what your customers are looking for because they are your target audience. It’s no good creating a brand only you like because you aren’t buying your own service.
Get yourself a custom email i.e. [email protected]. Imagine if we were [email protected]? You probably wouldn’t feel as trusting when sending us an email, not to mention how unprofessional that looks!
As soon as you’ve got your business name make sure you grab the domain for it ASAP, because it’s awful when you begin your branding but then come to your website and realise your name is already taken. And JACreativeStudio.com sounds better than JACreativeStudio1.com. If the domain is taken, you may have to change your name or try find a creative way around it. At this point, it’s also important to think about how people hear your brand name through conversation and also purchase those relevant names. For example think about pluralisation – JACreativeStudio(s).com.

Sit down with your team and think about what kind of requests you’ll likely be receiving and be definitive in you products or services. You should know what you can and what you can’t offer. Don’t say yes to everything if you can’t deliver it; it’ll make you look bad. It can take months to build a reputation and seconds to destroy it.
This is when you create the logo and branding materials. It’s the quickest way to show your audience what your brand stands for, exactly what you’re offering and makes it easy for them to recognise your business. This is one of the most important aspects of any company so we recommend that you invest in a professional to create your logo. Everyone will see it and a lot of people will judge you by it.
Additionally, you will need a stunning website which works smoothly and portrays your brand image, goals and also clearly shows how to contact you.
Your workspace or office should reflect your brand, especially if you’re in a customer facing industry. This will look professional for meetings but also keeps your employees inspired and reminded of your brand. For example, we’d recommend having your colour scheme incorporated on your office walls or your logo on your stationary.
This is obvious but social media is very important for your business to be active on. Some platforms will be more appropriate for your business, for example if you’re a photography company then Instagram and Pinterest will be your best platforms to post on as they are highly image based. But always make sure that your business has a Facebook page as a minimumbecause a lot of people will flick between your website and Facebook as places to get information on your business. We’ve seen a huge increase in customers and users searching for businesses on Facebook to find out vital information such as opening times and locations, rather then going directly to their website (especially if your business doesn’t even have a website!).
